1) Mobile phone - thanks hubby for getting me one! If any of you wanna present me phones you don't use anymore, very much welcomed!

2) Laptop/Desktop - hahaha, wishful thinking. It's a wishlist after all.

3) Skirts - black, denim, or white, I'm deprived of skirts. Knee length and above, waistline 34inch, thanks.

4) High heels - 4 inches and above, size 8-9.

5) Great tops - I'm never bored of new blouses, tubes, and tanks... DRESSES are awesome too!

6) Accessories - earrings, bracelets, bangles, necklaces [I would like a "key" pendant, symbolic for a 21st], belts, hair accessories, make-up!

7) Photo frames - I need new ones!

8) Comforter Set - nice ones, queen and king sizes.

9) Curtains - I've been wanting to get those long white lacey ones, haven't have those yet. If you can't find those, you can get me any other ones :)

10) Lamp Shade - my old one's kinda burnt, preferably white - I'm so domestic right, lol.

11) Purse - I would like to have those long-types for a change. So my cash can fit in flat-out and I can stuff in more cards.

12) Handbags - What's a girl gotta do without it? :) it could be casual or dinner bags.

13) Bikini - Could someone just get me one for fun? It's my 21st, LOL.

14) Lingerie - Jerry said he don't see the point of buying it, so any girlfriends??

15) SIMS 3 - Omgggg, someone please get me this game... doesn't have to be original.

16) Computer Games - I need to kill sometime at home till Jerry gets back. Give me games you think are great fun!

17) Customised Chain/Keychain - you know, iron streaks that are bent into your name? or beads that spell your name? yeah stuff like that. "Melissa" or "Mel" will do.

18) Webcam - I wanna talk and see my friends on the other side of the screen :(

19) External Hard Disk - I need a backup to store all my stuff :( ... but if you can't afford it, a thumbdrive will do good too... so desperate to backup all my data, lost them too way many times :(

Okay, I apologize for the lack of updates, my computer is STILL dead.
So, here I am making a brief one.

Okay this was the last day I had my braces on.

And now?

Well, it still feels weird not having the metal around cause I just got so used to it the past 3 years.
But I'm getting around to it :) Having retainers on for life now.

We love couple Thursdays! :D
And we also celebrated our 4th courtship anniversary, 14th November.

I think I was stupid enough to oblige to their demands. Just because I was top in English didn't mean i had to do their job, and not get a cent for it too. Damn.

I've to pray harder about this :/

It was nothing professional but heck, what a joyous celebration!

The wedding of Jill Peterson and Kevin Heinz starts with a quality entrance dance to Chris Brown's Forever. It took place at a Church in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

I actually came to know about this special video on Entertainment Tonight and checked it out on YouTube. They manage to hit 10 million views in an incredible few days till they were invited to recreate the sensation on the Today's Show! The last time I checked it was 12 million views already.

I've finally found the time for this tribute.
But he did capture my heart when I was very young.
Thanks to his songs and MTVs.

I'm not crazy about him, but those are some great hits I tell you!

No matter how many people made fun, mock or criticize him
(I'm guilty too)...
We can't deny that he was indeed one of the world's finest performers.
Yes, maybe not the greatest person to everyone, but he's one damn good performer that captured hearts all over the world.

He came up with his distinct style in music and dance moves
that created many copycats after him.
For instance, this one here.
Girls would scream and faint just at the sight of him.
Very vicious and brutal females I tell you, if you've seen his live videos before.

Also his ability to dance like this.
Not forgetting that he invented the "Moonwalk".
He's only one year younger than my mum!
And now I can't show my kids what MJ looks like when he's old and grey.

Somehow, it was only okay for MJ to grab his groin while dancing.
Doing high pitch noises like "teeheeee!".
Making "tahhh!" noises after singing every sentence.
If anyone else did that anywhere, we'd say he's a freak or he's a lame copycat.
It was only okay if MJ did it. It was just his trademark.

Mel Had An Oral Surgery Called Frenectomy

Yeah, you must be thinking
"Ahhh, it's Mel and one of her extreme surgeries again".
You're absolutely right!

We all remember the tooth extractions in 2007....

the headgear in 2008.... lol, man.

And now this, Frenectomy in 2009.

See this "rubber band" thingy that connects your gums to your lips?
It's called a Labial Frenum.
Yeah, I had it surgerically removed last Tuesday.

Why Mel??
What's wrong with youuu??

In case you guys weren't following earlier on, you can refer to my earlier post regarding the need for this surgery.

Man, after such a long time....
I actually felt fear, I was feeling scared on that dentist chair.
The minute I saw the huge bigassed needle that I've met before when I had to extract my two permanent teeth, I shivered. Recalling the seriously long needle shots that went into my mouth EIGHT TIMES.... The counter had now been promoted, that would be TWELVE TIMES now. Dammit.

The Anaesthetic Needle.

The feeling of that huge long needle penetrating into my gums and mouth 4 times, refreshed the past. After the nurse tested poking my gums with a sharp scaler, I felt nothing, which meant that I was ready. In they called the doctor, Dr. Chan. He took this lazer pen rolled up in aluminium foil, saying that this is a lazer surgery, that it would take a very short moment.

This 2 pictures were taken from the previous posts while extracting my teeth.

As he started lazering my flesh, I could literally smell my flesh burning. I thought,
"Ohh, this is what cannibals smell when they cook us".
Cause it didn't smell pleasing, or tasty.

In less than a minute, he was done, as the nurse stopped the device that was sucking away blood that was overflowing. A cotton goss was immediately pushed against the cut where my labial frenum no longer existed. I still felt numb from the anesthetic, so I hoped that there would be no pain, like how it happened when I extracted my teeth.

He told me that I couldn't brush my teeth for 2 days, that I'll only have to use listerine the mouth wash, twice a day. I was wondering how it would sting if it touched my wound. Shivers.
After going home, speaking to my parents with hand gestures and muffled sounds, they understood my perfectly. That's why they're my parents :)

A bloddy show.
It's gone forever.

I refrained from resting, to know if I felt any pain. Not long after that, I started to feel giddy and weak, suddenly feeling the numbness fading away. I assumed great pain would follow suit, but thank God it didn't. I just felt agonized for a little while. I ate porridge for that day, could hardly bite anything. But the next day was fine, I just didn't dare to move my lower mouth so much.

From a bloddy show, it looked like ulcer now.

Another day went on and I felt that I could move my mouth more, eat more solids.
So I tried checking my mouth further.
And I found this beneath my tongue.

Seems like the two labial frenums were connected perhaps.
It looked gory but I didn't feel much.
Don't worry peeps, I think the blood clot is subsiding.
Hopefully it'll be gone soon.

So that's the price I had to pay for vainity.
Any one else up for braces?

STPM Results :(

I've tried my best.
And this is all I've got :(

I know some loved ones are not happy with me though they're not saying it.
Maybe because I can feel their dissatisfaction.
But I can't stress how badly the paper was last year.

It was horrendous! :(
There were so many new unexpected formats and styles.
It left many of us clueless and blank in many questions, big sighs.

Here's what NST reported:
STPM results: More passes but fewer who scored straight As

I just feel upset.
Upset that I'm never good enough.
Upset that I've never meet up to those expectations.

As much as I feel like a failure right now, not all is lost.
I DID improve a lot in this final result!
Compared to the days were I'd fail 3 subjects in a row... :/

I'm still capable of applying for the Physiotherapy course in Nanyang Polytechnic.
I was always interested in that, but I couldn't apply for it with my SPM cert cause it was only for A Level or STPM holders. So, here goes.

And thank the Lord, I still can fulfill the requirements with this cert.
My SPM's Elementary Maths and Add Maths is 2 and 6.

So, we'll see where the Lord leads.
Keep praying for me.

Hey guys!

Well, back in December 2005, my brother Benson, and I composed a song in about 30 minutes for a couple of girlfriends who were leaving us to pursue their studies.
And so, we came up with this song :)

A couple of days ago, without my knowledge, Ben already recorded his guitar playing and demanded that I sang on the spot before I went out... He seemed to finally have the time and learnt of how to do simple recordings and overlapping.

So, please forgive me, it's not my best performance, hahaa. I hardly had time to warm up! This could've been better as I only sang this twice before I went off. Ben then took the best clip, overlapped them and... voila!

What do you expect, the guitar playing and my singing was COMPLETELY recorded using the common computer mic!
LOL..

Lastly, we also wanna dedicate this song to my beloved soul sister,
Suvanya Sukumaran a.k.a Yap Sue Anne.

Well, I tried singing it...but this song is memang written to be sung by a singer with high range lol.

Thus, my attempt at the song failed. Anyhoo, while I am in JB I thought why not ask my sis (who is a great singer) to sing it for me? haha. Besides, she is the one who sang it when we presented this song specially for the two friends we dedicated this song to.

And oh yeah, if you hear any other sounds in the track...just ignore them. They're most probably the vehicles passing behind my house. (yes my house is just beside the highway)

Early in the morning, my parents, Benson and I joined the Tweedies for home church and fellowship. We had some great dim sum at Johor Jaya, and then headed back to their house.

After spending some time with them, Ben and I joined Jerry, his aunt Aliena, and his cousins Erika and Jacky to do some shopping.

So we went to the Nike, Adidas, Al-Ikhsan and Reebok factory outlet where they were having a 70% discount clearance stock. Jacky needed a pair of new shoes, so we went to have a look.

Benson regretting he had no cash with him at all, lol.

So this was how he vent his anger and dissatisfaction...

Anatomy of an Oral Frenectomy

A frenectomy is a surgical procedure that removes or loosens a band of muscle tissue that is connected to the lip, cheek or floor of the mouth. It is usually performed under local anesthetic with uneventful healing.

The frenum is part of the normal oral anatomy, but may sometimes restrict movement of the lip, cheek or tongue, or may impinge on the gingiva (gums). Occasionally, a large or wide frenum may inhibit normal function.

A labial frenum is a band of muscle from the lip that may attach to the gingiva, contributing to a space between the teeth. It most often affects the upper central incisors. The frenectomy may be recommended after orthodontic treatment to help stabilize the position of the teeth. Another indication for a frenectomy is a partial or full-denture patient whose function is hindered in chewing. Frenectomies are occasionally performed for aesthetic considerations if the frenum prevents a natural smile.

Broad labial frenums on lower teeth may harm healthy gum tissue and hasten periodontal disease. In these cases, a frenectomy may be enhanced by a tissue graft from the palate. This procedure is most commonly performed by a periodontist.

Sometimes a thick frenum on the floor of the mouth may restrict movement of the tongue, preventing speech or chewing functions. It may also contribute to tooth decay since the patient cannot adequately use the tongue to sweep food from the teeth. A lingual or glossal frenectomy may be indicated on a toddler, depending on the extent of the restriction. It is most often performed by an oral surgeon. Difficulty in speech may be an early indication of the problem.

The Labial Frenum is a little tag of tissue in the center of the upper and the lower lip that attaches the lip to the gums. It too is not especially useful, and sometimes causes orthodontic or periodontal problems if the attachment on the gums is too close to the teeth. If it becomes a problem, we usually simply cut it .

This is most often done on children if the attachment of the frenum is too "high" and causes a diastema (space) between the adult teeth. The procedure is called a "frenectomy". An interesting thing to note is that a glancing blow to the face will generally rip this structure, and a ripped labial frenum, in combination with other "recurrent" bodily injuries is considered to be a legal indication of child abuse.

I didn't even know that was its name...
I'm meeting the dentist again tomorrow for another doctor's second opinion before I move on with the surgery, in 2 weeks time.

If I don't do this surgery, the 2 years of having these braces are gonna go to waste. The tension of my labial frenum will make a gap in between my lower two front teeth again after removing my grills. Doc said that usually people's frenectomy is on the upper teeth.

Mine's on the lower teeth.
So, it's a pretty rare case.

I joined honey for a reunion dinner with his family and other relatives.
This, I must say, is the best Briyani restaurant I've dined at.
It's called "The Village".
But before that, I accompanied him and kinda helped him with his college assignments, lol....

First of all...
A very HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR to all! :D

Oooh, before going up to KL, Jackson, Kristen, Ivan, honey and myself went to the theaters for Inkheart :)
Not too bad, quite interesting.

I can imagine the heart attacks they always almost encounter. You see, everyone has their own headphones, so the CC's sound pollution is controlled. Except for some, I mean, most gamers who keeps cursing and swearing while playing their games... So, with the girls screaming so randomly, loudly and all of a sudden, the owner and his workers always have to be prepared, lol.

Being so amused with our presence, the owner kept coming over to our table and watching from behind, giving us new tips, tricks and etc. He even bragged that he finished the entire game. Even his workers found it entertaining watching us play from the back, so they kept coming over... lol.

When we were about to leave, the owner said this was the first time he watched girls playing L4D without screaming, and asked us to come back and play again next time. Hahahaa...

The next day, we went to Berjaya Times Square to do some shopping!
ALL for RM10 Shop! OMG, I love it! Great tops for a great price!
We're so gonna go back to do more shopping next year :)

Then later at night, we had "lou sang".

Not bad, I kept up my rep, lol. It went on so long cause everyone stepped up to their game and the negotiation parts with the luck of the dice kept us going.

What a laugh. Entertaining, surprisingly :)

And by the way, this is a good movie!
Darling said it didn't entertain him that much cause it lost a lot of its action-pack quality, more on romance instead. But I found it great to watch, go catch it :)

I played Left 4 Dead yesterday, alongside with some Counter Strike...
Had great fun with honey, Jackson, Kristen, Jin Chong and his friend.
Hmmm, the graphics are good. Kinda exciting, hehee.

We played teams, 4 against 4, so you get to join the survivors and the zombies alternately. I didn't know you can't shoot that stupid Witch, so I end up dying first and have to wait until my 3 members die too before I can resume the next round... Dammit.
Kristen gave up half-way cause she thought it was too scary.... xD

You're twenty now. I'll be reaching that number soon in April...

I was just being creative...
As always... *ahem*

I'm a genius! :D

So, I proposed to use this Yearbook thingy as our class' section in the school magazine!
Oh, how smart... I know, I know... ;)

Getting everyone to have their pictures taken, place their faces on different frames, [kinda tiring by the way], letting them choose their favourites, discussing together as a class on what titles we ought to give each other. It wouldn't be fun or real if we chose the "Miss and Mr" titles ourselves. And lastly, letting them think of their quotes or favourite phrases to represent them.

It's simple, hilarious, has good standards and looks really great in the school magazine!
According to the teacher in charge, it was the best they've received in years :)

Compared to those students who draw aimlessly or poorly and paste random student pictures here and there, drawing cartoon characters with different heads.
In my opinion, it's very secondary or primary quality.
No offense. Lol.

Anyways. Here's the product that I've worked so diligently on.

Haha! Look at that...
It was a really fruitful year man!

I was biology-chemistry student in a boy's school [SMK Dato' Jaafar], looked like a freak in school who wears a headgear attached to her braces, was still fat with long hair... but did very well in school still! All my buddies say, "hey!" :D

Ohh, and for everyone who keeps asking how was STPM...
It was tormenting - everyone almost died.

This year was just super hard - in the sense that they came up with a lot of new questions, make us students who've been doing past-year papers blank-out in the examinations. Well, I answered everything to my maximum capacity and ability, I've really tried my best. Now, we just have to wait and see.

Ohh Lord, I pray I don't flunk, I WILL NOT retake this stoooopid exam.
Once a lifetime is enough :/

And now?
I'm leaving the "kaki bangku sekolah" for good.
STPM's the peak of it all, this is the very end of being in a 'government school'. At least those people who just finished SPM STILL have the possibility of going back for STPM.
Hahahaa... back to those boring uniforms. Yet, I couldn't imagine thinking of what to wear to school everyday, what a hassle, lol.

Well, I'm done!
I've completed my school life.

When I kicked off with the beginning of 2008, I knew it'd be a great year. So many things happened without pre-plans, expect the unexpected they'd say. Of course, needless to say that there were the ups and downs, but that's how we grow, learn and mature in ways we'd never imagine. And that made life so wonderful and amazing.

I've been praying so hard for my father's approval and blessing, and just before 2008 was about to come to a closure, God answered my prayers! The four years of waiting was timeless, and now, beautiful and priceless.
So, what the bible said is true, men can only plan, but God has His own plans for you.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future".

- Jeremiah 29:11

Amen.

I really thank God for everything that had happened in 2008.
And right now, I'm moving forward to 2009!

Resolutions?
Okay, let's set some.

● Grow stronger together in God
● Lose those fats and achieve that slim figure!
● Get a great job to support my family
● Pass with flying colours for my STPM results!
● Get diligent with daily devotion
● Learn how to cook really good food
● Spend more time with my family and darling
● Master jazzy tunes on the piano and bass :D

● Thinking of my singing career?
● Perhaps dance with AFC again :)

Well, that's all I can think of for now...

OH YEAH.
I'll be removing my braces in about 2 months more.
YAY!

Dear readers,

Thank you so much for keeping up with the visits despite how dead this blog is becoming to :)

I shall now declare this hiatus, as I will be taking my STPM examinations from the 18th of November all the way to 3rd December.
I'll come back to blogging when I do.
No promises.

In this tough phase that I'm going through, please pray for me - health wise emotionally, physically and spiritually.

Please pray for my family, that we'll be okay in every area - that we'll be filled with love especially that conquers everything else.
Pray for my dad especially, by God's grace and mercy, every sickness will be removed and he'll be healed completely by the stripes of Jesus.

I can only go through these tough times with God's love, strength, grace and mercy. Which is why your prayers are very much appreciated.
For those who are already praying, thank you so much.
Keep them prayers coming still! :)

And so, Benson and Yen Fah accompanied me to KL to collect my car!
Hahaa, it's a second-hand Kancil that my aunt's been using.
She's getting a new MyVi now, so she's giving this silver car up.

All credit goes to Yen Fah who helped me buy this car.

When we reached Bukit Jalil... [lol, so close to my previous home]
contacted PekPek, dad's eldest bro and Nicole, my aunt.
They picked us up and went to JPJ.
We were so afraid that they closed early because it was still the Raya celebrations on Friday. Thank goodness it was still in business but it doesn't open till 2.30PM.
So Pek Pek brought us for lunch at a branch of Ipoh Road's Yong Tau Fu.

When we went back, the place super packed and we had about 40+ people ahead of us -.-"
And so we waited, with a lot of drama in the process.
It was unnecessary but hey, phases like these happen in life.
Perhaps, people weren't thinking straight/wisely and let emotions butt in.
Regardless, I still loved him though he said hurting words.

Anyways, all is forgiven and settled.
It was a long day and everyone was tired.
At about 5.30PM, the transaction and everything was finally done.
The car is officially released and it's mine :)

Finally, we headed HOME!
I couldn't wait :D
Couldn't wait to see grandma and sis especially.
Sis couldn't wait to see Yen Fah, LOL.

While they were out...
We spent time at home chatting with grandma, spending time with her, she took time to know Yen Fah, and also watched all her Hokkien and Cantonese dramas with her, lol.
Later, Ben and Yen Fah brought grandma and I out for dinner :)
We had a good time chatting and enjoying the food.

I was very happy for one :)
Very happy that grandma finally met him.
All those talks grandma and I had everytime we met before this, telling her about him, and she asking questions about him... I've always hoped that she'd be able to meet him and see what and how he's like :) and my wish came true.

When grandma got me alone, translation from cantonese, these were her remarks:
"Wow, not bad not bad... Very handsome... Most important of all, he's got a good heart..."
A few words, but it meant a lot to me :)

Following the birthday plan, we secretly forked out our cash [again] and got her a black-forest chocolate cake. During the long wait of her return, we just played chess and checkers...
LOL. I owned of course... xD

And when she came back.... TADAAA!
She was really happy... actually she was already very happy...
We just made her... happier! :D :D :D

We left home, saying our last goodbyes...
We want to come back again for Chinese New Year :)
Christmas for me!

Left at about 6AM and it was seriously raining cats and dogs...
This kancil is already 13 years old, so it overheats easily.
But thank God, there were no serious breakdowns of any sort.
We just had to drive at an optimum speed without speeding recklessly.
Then it'll go smoothly without overheating.

Ben wanted to rush home cause he promised to meet Kim and Karyn.
Girls, if you're reading this...
Ben was really all out to come back, man... he was literally desperate.
LOL, so appreciate him more k :)

He was so determined to get back early that he didn't even wanna alternate drivers with Yen Fah or me, lol. He WANTED to stay on the wheel till he got home.
Hahaa... takut we delay his time kot, lol.

Throughout the entire journey, God was definitely watching us.
We ran out of petrol but there were no petrol stations nearby.
By His grace, we managed to come by Petronas across the road.

Then we had to find some kind of corong to pour it in.
In the midst of preparing, a Plusliner vehicle came to our aid and they already had a ready-cut coke bottle to help us out. Wishing Selamat Hari Raya, we were on our again.

Thank the Lord that it wasn't one of those criminals who are out to get you on the highways.
You know, like some tragic cases you've been hearing about.
God was really watching us.

Home sweet home :)
Everything was alright, better in fact.

Ben apologized for everything, and so did I.
We still love each other very much, and should think wisely next time.
He even mentioned how understanding Yen Fah was and told me not to hurt him, LOL.
They had some guy-talk in the car that he don't wanna tell me about, lol.
Ben said that he knew he was a good guy ever since we were friends 3 years ago.

Alls well, ends well.

And by the way, this happened last Friday :)

Well, he won as expected.

After reaching the place, we got ready and had lunch.
We were gonna go shopping, wheee :D

It's been long since I came here.

Shopped till it was about 9PM, almost 10PM maybe..
We girls really grew closer :)

ONE bathroom.

What a horror!
Lol, but it's okay... we planned our bathing schedules systematically.
And use teacher's bathrooms if they're vacant, so no complaints from us :)

The next day.
The badminton match against Sekolah Sains Alam Shah.

Can you believe that we drove out of our centre all the way to town, and suddenly shocked us when we reached the wrong place, it was deserted. Then only we were told that the match was where our centre was, you could even walk and you'd reach in no time. Waste our time man...

We girls were screaming, shouting and cheering for our boys like mad.
Sains Alam Shah's spirits were so low, they told us.
LOL.

We won every category... lol.
Screaming has power...

Later in the evening.... here we were, finally.

At the corner of this big, big auditorium.

We just finished witnessing the malay debate.
Now my girlfriends just kept giving me support cause I was just so low that day.

The lady was the judge for last year's debate okay.

And so, we begin.

LOL, first speaker lar.
I was so glad I didn't flunk anything, perfect I'd say.

That's the guy that everyone's calling "bapok", "pondan" or "sissy".
They say that they couldn't stand his broken-wrist syndrome and his bimbo-ness.

So many yellow people.... lol...

And then, this shocked the world.
Big sighs. Oh well.
You should've seen them leading some cheer with all the yellow people involved.
Very well choreographed.

And so, there we were. Unjustified.

But suddenly without expectation, I was announced the Best Speaker of this National Debate.
Received extra trophy, cert and money.
Awww, I owned everyone.
I didn't know I'd own Mr. Ang too, lol.

Depressing night, the biased decision was so clear.
Even people who watched it already told me so.
Anyways. What's happened has happened.
We were on our enemy's ground.

Goodbye KL...
With so many unjustice and problems, we left that night itself too and most of us couldn't even take our shower.

So mean, bad organisation and going against promises that are printed black and white. It was dangerous k. Again, refer to the previous post for the story.

And some bears we snapped at Mid-Valley...

Sadly, these bears can't hug you back.
But sometimes... they're all you've got.

Yeah, the absence from my blog is simply inevitable as I'm still in the midst of my trials. The torment is going to continue till next week.

I've sat for my General Paper [it was okay].

It wasn't advertised, it wasn't published anywhere.
They just... aired it.

The EMERGE Conference was really awesome :D
You guys should've been there, a great conference indeed!

They had 82 great competitions!
The Parade of Schools [cheerleading], Manhunt, Beauty Pagaent, The Fastest Talker, Spelling Bee, Arm Wrestling, Word Power, Talentime, all kinds of sports and so much more.

Many were truly blessed for those 3 days.

Guess who's that? LOL.
My sister lar, duh.
Yeah, we went down to support her :)

Liu Geng Hong was so touched by God that he even started to expand the ministry in Taiwan together with his wife, Miss Taiwan. They managed to start and run 70 schools in Taiwan.

This is Liu Geng Hong and Amei's manager.
She suffered from depression and came to know the Lord.
Now, she's living a more fruitful and transformed life.

Debat Kemerdekaan & Johor Level Bowling Competition.

On the 13th of August, I left home for school.

And guess what, I didn't make it to school as we planned to.
Cause dad's tire caught fire. Literally.
Seriously, what a way to start the morning.
More like, what a way to send me off to KL for the national debate, lol.
We managed to put the fire out before we exploded to pieces.

So, Rajwinder and I took a bus to school instead.
Chun Lei was such a darling to fetch me from the bus stop to school.
Just in time to catch our bus. Thank you! :)

Well, I must say...
I never expected to have such a great company to KL.
I was the eldest girl there, well I mean, not including the teachers.
Just among us students, yeah.

Our supporters consisted of the SDJ's lower six students and some young boys from the afternoon session. Not forgetting the supporters and participants from SSI as well. Yeap, we shared one bus together. It was great cause we got to know each other better. New friendships formed, closer friendships bonded.

So, times in KL were much more fun!
Had the time to spend in Mid Valley Megamall to get stuff we wanted - shop about.
Kesian, I was feeling pretty thrifty lar that time, lol. We stayed at the International Youth Centre in Cheras.

EIGHT girls, ONE room, ONE bathroom.
Imagine that.
LAWL.

My parents were like, "Ohh, my goodness!".
While smacking their forehead, lol.

But we were really organized with things so no one got upset :)
And we stayed up pretty late - chatting the minutes away.
One by one, the girls knocked themselves out till there were 3 of us left.
The remaining 2 requested me to withdraw for they knew I could stay up forever, lol. And so I gave in and tucked in at 2am.

The next day.

We girls really screamed and cheered for the badminton team when they were against Sekolah Menengah Sains Alam Shah. The SAS students told us their spirits were so down by our cheering for our school till SMK Dato' Jaafar claimed every prize there was to compete for - we won everything.
LOL - GO SDJ!

Later on towards the evening, we got ready to leave for RTM Angkasapuri to support SSI for the Malay Debate. But as I was about to board the bus, the teachers commented that there was some wardrobe error with my attire. I was informed to wear a blazer and a white outfit inside, a skirt is prefered and wearing a tie is optional. AND SO, I wore a blazer and a white decent dress inside. Like what they told me to.

UNTIL, they told me that I was supposed to wear a blazer and my school uniform inside, with a tie. I was damn pissed cause of this wrong delivery of information, cause our room that was on the third floor had no freaking lift. I had to rush all the way back 100meters into the centre and climb SIX flights of staircases to reach my freaking room - in my high heels, dress and blazer. OOOH, I was so pissed off, UGGH.

Diana Joyce who had a school uniform of my size was obliged to lend hers to me for the night, I felt so bad. Make her strip her uniform and give it to me. Just borrowed her shirt and tie, wore my own slacks, blazer and heels. She kept telling me that she didn't mind at all and she was honoured but I still felt bad. Worse in fact.

AND THEN, I had to rush all the way down 3 floors and 100meters out again... I was trying not to sweat like crap, sighs. I hate wrong information. Just because I was silent in the bus, so was everyone else. I was just trying to pull myself together again and complete my make up, that's all. Didn't mean to pull everyone else down with me :/

And yes the Malay Debate, SSI won, as you've read from the post below. After that, it was our turn, the English Debate. Before that, my teacher brought me to the RTM crew to inform them of the performance SDJ prepared - which was me playing the guitar, singing "Setia".

Apparently Yayasan Pendidikan Cheras [YPC], the one who organized this entire thing, did not specify to RTM that SDJ prepared a guitar performance but they only mentioned a guitar performance from SAS. Okay great, I brought the guitar all the way from JB, carried it on my back and now you're telling me this? Sighs, whatever it was, I accepted it and decided to focus more on my debate. There was just too many unnecessary unfortunate events that were occuring to me at the same time, I was getting pretty disintegrated and my spirits were pretty low.

Yeah, poor Mel :(

With the motion, "the history of a nation is shaped more by events rather than individuals", we were the opposition and we were striving for a landslide victory against SAS. We believed that the history of a nation is shaped more by individuals, rather than events.

The debate proceeded, and just let me be very honest.
On the Government's side, the first speaker was their teacher and he was alright. The second speaker a malay boy that was running like a bullet train and everyone had a hard time trying to understand what he was trying to deliver, including the judges. The third speaker, was a malay boy who was one of those sissy types [people said so]. So, he spoke with a lot of sarcasm, a "broken-wrist syndorme" and a lot of "whatever"s. No offense, but like a typical bimbo, lol.

If only they really debated on true facts and solid stands, then I wouldn't say anything. They were merely criticizing, even cursing my second speaker to "die by losing his head in an accident" [from the 3rd speaker] and they were definitely not debating, seriously. They were really floating in the clouds because this was the scene that night:

80% of the auditorium were SAS supporters who were dressed in yellow.
10% were supporters from other schools.
10% were our school, SDJ and SSI.

Imagine.

The SAS speakers would speak irrelevant points but their school would scream and clap like mad till we debaters who had the microphones couldn't overcome them. They don't understand what they're school's saying but they'll scream and clap like mad still. That was our scenario. And when we came up with solid stands backed up with facts, they couldn't applaud cause they had to support their own school. Our JB people who were the 10% in the auditorium clapped and shouted like mad, but in that huge auditorium, they sounded so small... lol. It's okay guys, I love you still :)

As the debate drawed closer to its end, we summed up our case efficiently and strongly. This is not just my opinion but other schools and teachers as well, maybe except SAS - that we were definitely going to win the debate this time. CAUSE it was so FREAKING OBVIOUS. Even some of the SAS members didn't clap or shout as much anymore cause it was such a clear cut, such a clear victory.

But to everyone's shock... in the end of the day, this was the result:
Sekolah Menengah Sains Alam Shah won the debate. Bringing back RM500 each and the title of Champions of the debate. We came in Second, bringing back RM250 each. The Pengarah Pendidikan shook my hand and told me that I was a fantastic speaker as he gave me my awards.
In my head, I was like, "Yeah thanks... but it was so biased" :(

And after we received our prize, we had to stay on the stage as they announced the Best Speaker of the National Debate 2008. Everyone was cheering for Mr. Ang, the teacher who got me into this. Hahaa, he won last year's best speaker. So, I cheered along with them, I didn't mind him getting it cause I bet he's already feeling so upset that we didn't win this unfair debate.

"... And the Best Speaker of this year's English National Debate is.... Miss Melissa Yap!"

OMG??

I shook the Pengarah Pendidikan's hand again to receive another trophy with RM300 alongside. And he said, "See, I told you.. you're really good!" and he smiled. I couldn't help but smile back. It was unexpected. Hahaa, but Mr. Ang and I were rather equivalent, so I did feel that I deserve it at the same time, lol. Mr. Ang was happy for me, he said he didn't mind. But he said he'll cause havoc if any of the SAS speakers won that title, lol.

And so we made our entrance out.
Mr. Ang didn't even want to stay for the photo session cause he felt that it was so unjust. So we accompanied him out, but on the way, a lot of the yellow shirt SAS guys requested for pictures with me, lol. My mates were like, "Yeah lar Mel.... famous already lar... got fans lar now... all guys somemore.... LOL". I didn't call them to me okay... lol!

This constantly happened along the way to our bus. Guys were waving everywhere unanimously and telling me "I love you"s. My girlfriends who were walking with me cannot tahan lar I think, LOL. They said I was looking like a very pretty lawyer, so everyone's attracted... xD

In the bus, we analyzed the judging scheme.
Cause Mr. Ang's been teaching English for more than 20 years and he's definitely been a debate judge. So, look. If I won Best Speaker, that means my marks are higher than the Government's first speaker. My marks would be pretty high and the Government side requires their next 2 speakers to earn very high marks, to win my other 2 fantastic speakers who had excellent english command and great persuasion. One was a bullet train, and another was a bapok [people said so], both with not very good command of english. We were really like, WTH..?

This comes down all the way to showbiz again.
It would look really bad on tv if they lost cause they filled up 80% of the entire auditorium. When they won, they did some cheer thingy with some stranger simply running up to the front of the stage to conduct the cheer. Yeah, that looked really good on tv, cause it was already planned. So obvious.

And just before I left, the host that announced the results caught hold of me just before I left. He said, "Melissa, I dunno... but maybe you'd like to keep this result slip... but hey, I really think you did really well... just take a look at this okay.... congrats!".

Just when we reached the International Youth Centre to sleep off our tiredness and disappointment, we were informed that we were leaving on that night itself. Geez man! What's wrong with Yayasan Pendidikan Cheras? Organization skills were really no good man. They told us that our bus validity ends tonight and so we must leave tonight. What nonsense man... travelling after midnight is dangerous.

They printed it on black and white that we were leaving the next morning. But we had no choice. Most of us couldn't even bathe, we just packed and rushed up the bus. Urrrrgghh, dammit betul lar. I slept like a log on the bus. Only woke up after 4 stops when I reached Simpang Renggam, lol. My body was aching all over cause I couldn't lower my seat when someone's legs behind me didn't allow it. I was just so glad to be home lar. Phew.

When I got back to JB, I remembered the result slip the host passed to me and this was what I realized....

Oh hey, it's their school.
How surprising.
They've owned this debate from the start.
Everything was planned - we were meant to lose.

People, the official envelopes of this entire event is this envelope.
With Yayasan Pendidikan Cheras printed on it.
Look carefully.

I could only sigh looking at this.
And inside the result envelope, this was what the 3 malay judges circled on...

It was just a matter of circling the winning school.
What a sad case.

They better telecast this English Debate on air.
Let the entire nation judge for themselves and see how unfair this debate was.
You guys tell me what you think about it after seeing it on air.

Guys, I'm not sure of the dates yet.
But I am very sure that it will be aired this month is conjunction with this patriotic month. It'll be on RTM1 or RTM2, look out for it.

For me, this debate was utterly disappointing.
But it was a bittersweet experience.

Mum was complaining why I kept bringing back so many trophies.
Cause she dunno where to put them anymore, lol.
A few trophies in a week.

This was the Bowling MSSD that got me 2nd.
And brought me to the Johor Level.

So, I woke up really early on Saturday morning.
Dad sent me to Kluang Parade and we reached at 8.45am.
But everything only started at 9.30am.
Typical Malaysian time.
Never punctual and always half an hour late.

The SAB team & teacher, and Su Chien from SMK Tasek Utara.
We represent the Johor Bahru district.

Dad was giving us great support.
He felt really excited throughout the game cause he was calculating the scores and updating us so that we'd push harder, lol.

In the first game, we were at the 2nd place.
Second game, we fell all the way down to the 4th place.

Goodness! :/
At this point, me and Nazwa couldn't take it,
so we pushed ourselves like mad.

By the last game, the 3rd one,
we seriously pushed all the way and we won our
GOLD MEDALS!

The Johor Bahru district won as CHAMPS at the Johor Level!
Mwahahaaa :)

The boys got 4th.
Takpe lar, it's okay.

As for the individual scores, I ranked as the 7th best player in the entire Johor.
I knew I didn't play as well as I usually did.
I was just too tired, travelling from KL and next day to Kluang.
Crazy, I know... :/

But ahh well, 7th's fine for me.
I'm glad I don't have to keep representing to the next level.
I've gotta study man.

All these competitions made me lose more weight, lol.

Pada 14 Ogos 2008, YPC dan Alumni Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Dato’ Jaafar Johor bahru dengan kerjasama Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) Kuala Lumpur akan mengadakan Debat Kemerdekaan bertempat di Auditorium Perdana, RTM Angkasapuri Kuala Lumpur.

Hi guys :)
It's 12.30am and I've just finished packing everything I need for the National Debate at Angkasapuri, and my State Level Bowling Competition in Kluang.

If I'm not mistaken, we'll be staying at Belia Antarabangsa.

We'll be leaving at 10am today.
Man, I hope I'm ready.

My teacher was asked if our school was performing any item just because Cheras was performing a zapin dance. And without my consent, my teacher confirmed with them that I will sing a song while playing the guitar.

It's on National Television people!
And I AM SO NOT a guitarist :(
Lol, it's not my strongest instrument lar.
I'm still a noob at it kay, eventhough I can play by ear.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I can see Benson laughing at me now.
Whatever Ben, whatever.

Sighs, ahh well.
Anyways, I'll be singing "Setia" since it's based on the Independence month.
Hope I do well, especially when it's right after debating... lol.

OMG.
Mel got white hair???!

My sweetest darling had to spot 2 golden strands of hair on my head.
Literally gold, white and brown....
*cries*

This is the first time I've ever seen dying hair on my head.
It is.... saddening.
Sniffle.

I'm getting old.
Very old.
And I'm only nineteen to begin with :(

Guys.
I dunno if so much is happening too fast.
Whatever.

Last Friday, I agreed to enter a bowling competition, district level, among form six students only. We competed at Skudai Parade, where everything sucked - the lanes and the house balls especially.

So, we reached there at 2.30pm.
But of course due to Malaysian time, nothing is ever punctual.
My schoolmates and I got ourselves ready by selecting a suitable houseball respectively.
After such a difficult time, we chose balls that we could bear with.

Most of them had major holes in them, the finger holes were too far apart or damn small.
I found two 11pound balls that were just alright.
So we gathered our balls and took care of it placing them at a rack where we can watch them.

Everything started only at 3.30pm.
The minute they opened the lanes for trial throws, I went to my lane to get my ball....
And it was GONE.

OMG.
What now??

I took any ball that was available and gave some warm up throws.
Damn, none of them fit.
I was throwing into the drains, miserably, cause the houseballs got stuck with my fingers.
This would be like, bowler suicide.

SO, I went around searching for another ball.
I couldn't find any! :(
Until I came across a 12pound black ball.
It was heavy, the holes were jaggered and slightly big, making it difficult to grip - they don't fit like gloves, but I don't have any other options. Whatever, I'm screwed.

We played 3 games.
With every throw, I was suffering a great deal of agony.

My thumb swelled up like a retarded sausage.
It was so painful.... but I was trying my bestest to do very well with every throw I got.
I kept my focus, pretty much.

The lane next to me, had a SUKMA player who hailed from SAB...
Where she had 6 strikes in a row.
Damn - I couldn't help but applaud for her.
I felt so malu, lol.

In the end of the day... I kinda did pretty well.
Better than I expected actually.
With 3 games, I had a total of 393 marks.
First game, 147 marks. Second and third, I forgot, lol.
Where the SUKMA player had about 416 marks for two games I think.
She's really good :)

And dudes and dudettes...
I got SECOND place.

WHOA!

The SUKMA girl and I are gonna represent the district of Johor Bahru in Kluang.
This was really unexpected.

When I found out about the date.
It was even more shocking.
My National Debate, KL is from the 13-15 August.
The Bowling Johor Level Competition, Kluang, 16 August.

My teacher got worried for me.
She said that I'd be very tired.
But hey, this opportunity don't come around often.
I'll just do it... it's the last time I'm going to anyways.

CONCLUSION:
So, I guess.... my studies macam betul-betul "bo liao", lol?
Yeah yeah, I know it shouldn't be an excuse, which is why I'm still pushing myself really hard in my studes okay. I'm not giving up.... at least, not yet.

My entire day on Monday was surprising when a few students randomly approached me and it went something like this...

"Mel, you entered My Starz LG is it??"
"Urrrm, yeah... how you know? Lol, I don't remember telling you..."
"I saw you on TV! Hahaa... you looked so sweet... xD "

Hey, I didn't add in that last part, LOL.
They said it! xD

Apparently, last Sunday at 12.30, an entertainment-update show called "My Melody" on TV3 rolled in a preview of the auditions that took place. And so, that's how my friends saw me... lol. So now, the whole school knows. They said that the camera focused on me for about 3 times... according to them. But they said there were no shots of me singing.

LOL, thank goodness!
WAHAHAHAAAA.

Seriously, I had no intentions to tell my school lar...
Only my close classmates knew about it.
Kerana, malu nanti bila tak dapat.
WAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA... xD

And dad found the video clip online, and saved an image for me.
It's nothing much really.

Nasib baik I lost weight before entering this show.

BUT.

Yeah, the song that I never fancied and always critiqued on radio.

I just learned and memorized "Tattoo" in two hours before the competition.
Sucks right?

So, there I was.
Barely prepared.

As I was singing, just before I could finish the first chorus...
The judges stopped me.
Omg lar. My heart stopped too. But I continued smiling.
Suddenly, they just showed me the GREEN CARD.
Which means, I passed the audition! :D

Whoa.
LOL.

And so, they gave me their "golden ticket" except that it wasn't gold.
Did some interview and bla-bla.
I dunno when they'll air it on TV3 though.

Asking me questions and stuff.

Yada yada yada....

Lol.

Hmm, to be honest.
This wasn't as hard as Malaysian Idol.
Haha.

The producer asked all the contestants who passed the audition to come back again at 4PM for a second round. This time they'll record your performance [full song] and decide later on after they've auditioned the whole nation. JB's the first stop, Penang's next, then Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur and so on. They'll call us regarding our results about one month later.

OH FYI.
Only 2 chinese girls made it among the other 16 malays.
Man, I was so tired.
I rushed back to Jusco after EC's IU at about 3.30PM.

Among all the contestants there.
I felt so, so, so, so superly overdressed!
Yes, too formal for my own good -.-".

The second round.
It was "Tattoo" again.
But this time, singing the whole song.

And disaster happened.
I didn't get to hit the highest note! :(

The judges this time were the producers of Warner Music, Malaysia.
Earlier, it was the senior producers of TV3 that worked with all the local artists.

WHY must I screw up now?
Of all times, now?
At the high note, I forced my voice to come out like it always did but this time, it DIDN'T! I was so upset, lol. Macam, malu lar... paham? Big sighs.

The big guy in red was like...
"Macam suara awak tak boleh keluar ye..? Takpe takpe, tapi ada banyak ruang untuk meningkatkan lagi potensi anda..."

SNIFF, is he trying to say that I can learn and grow more from the competition, or is he just saying I'm not ready yet, lol?

"Dan awak sangat berani ye untuk menyertai pertandingan ini, sebagai seorang bangsa cina... Saya boleh tengok awak telah berusaha dengan banyak sekali untuk menyanyikan lagu ini ya..."

LOL, worked very hard for the song?
More like, NOT REALLY cause I just learnt it in two hours!
And he made me sound like I worked my ass off for this song, only to sound like a disaster.
Gosh, I feel like I'm such a lousy singer! :(

However, while I was singing... I saw that their main camera ran out of tape.... LOL.
I hope they didn't get to record my bridge, waahahaa.

And ohh, have I ever mentioned that I'd feel a lil' nervous being in a public bus, alone?

S&S buses are not really popular with the people here.
They'd purposely wait for MAJU or Translink-The Smiling Bus to come about.
Maybe it's because of their dirty and smelly conditions.
And ermm, with white substances here and there.
Well, there have been cases where girls get sexually harassed on public transports.

I felt nervous this round cause I was in the bus alone for about half of my journey. I was wondering why the driver wasn't stopping at any stops where people DID hail him down. I got a lil' more tensed when this fierce-looking indian driver kept staring at me through his mirror.

Hmmmm.

But when I was almost reaching home, some people got on the bus, FINALLY, cause he decided to stop. Felt some sort of relief if you asked me, lol. Ahh well.

She's proud to say that she lost 7kg in the past 2 weeks +

Mel's on a very, very, VERY strict diet.
Plus, some workout ;)

Cause she was never slim before in her entire life and has very low metabolism. She has very high water retention which means she's filled with water that combined with her fat cells which makes her very puffy :/
No wonder she could still be so active in sports and be the school's athlete.

She was freaking 8pounds the minute she came into this world for crying out loud!

*horror*

I was enduring the times where I watched my family indulge Burger King, friends munching on Mickey D's, ex-colleagues asking me out for KFC, soft drinks offers by schoolmates and other various temptations. Not just avoiding those fast food products, anything that is oily, fried, fat and sugary is out of my list.

I just forced myself to say "no".

And ate healthy and balanced small portions every single day regularly.
With lotsa H2O.
Hunger strike's not a solution for me.

AND
She's never been happier! :)
And she's gonna keep pushing on.

BUT she just gave in to temptations of durians -.-"

She's far too weak when it comes to those creamy little things.
Especially when it's currently the Durian Season!
But thank goodness they were in a controlled portion this time.

I can do this.
Come on.
